Ohio AirBnB that Checks All the Boxes from Comfort to Hospitality

Looking for an Ohio AirBnB that checks all the boxes from comfort to hospitality? The Inns at 8th and Main do that and so much more. Ohio is overflowing with small towns that epitomize the all-American aura that many of us in the Midwest grew up feeling. McConnelsville, in Morgan County, is one such example.

The Inns at 8th and Main

With small town charm comes genuine hospitality. This is just the beginning of what you’ll experience during a stay at the Inns at 8th and Main. Amy and Dan have taken a corner building, that has historically been known to house weary travelers, and brought it up to modern standards while maintaining its authentic charm.

My husband and I had the privilege of being hosted by Amy and Dan. I’m happy to share our experience and to provide details about McConnelsville and Morgan County. Each time I visit this adorable town, I feel even more connected to the people who make everything tick. Hometown Community Involvement

The owners of the Inns at 8th and Main are not only locals, but they also wholeheartedly support their community. They have sponsored numerous events at the Twin Cities Opera House, sold and featured artwork for the 3rd Street Gallery, and hosted events at the Inn with the proceeds donated to the Opera House. On top of that, Amy is an active member of the Morgan County Visitors Bureau. When you stay at this Ohio AirBnB, you are truly supporting the entire community.

Beautiful Architecture

Before entering the Inn, you’ll be wowed by the front door and the massive sandstones. Upon close observation, you’ll notice that they have been ‘combed’ by a specific tool of the time. The cornerstone, with its perfectly manicured 90-degree angle is a work of craftsmanship in itself. When you consider the material and the tools which were used 150+ years ago, it’s quite astonishing how well the final product turned out and how well it has withstood the elements of time.

As you ascend up the sandstone stairs, you can’t help but stop and admire the beautiful huge door, transom window and sidelites. You can practically imagine yourself back in the day of horses and buggies, stopping here for a much-needed night’s sleep.

Inside the Inn

One of the first items we noticed upon entering the home was a winged-pig statue sitting in the foyer. Throughout our stay, we started to notice a few more placed here and there. Curiosity got the best of us, so we finally had to ask. In a nutshell, Amy was given the compliment that she could do so much she could even make pigs fly. As you get to know this amazing couple, and see the work they have meticulously done, you’ll come to agree that nothing seems to be able to stand in their way from getting a task completed and completed well.

When you enter this beautiful Ohio Airbnb, you’ll be drawn in by the warmth and coziness of the den. The leather furniture beckons you to sit for a spell and relax while you sip on a cup of tea or coffee. Collectively, the home is decorated in a classic, eclectic style that blends beautifully with the architecture and age of the home.

Adjacent to the den are the kitchen and dining room. In both rooms, you’ll notice the intricately inlaid hardwood floors. I absolutely love the den, but a close second is the large eat-in kitchen area with its huge fireplace that takes up an entire wall. The fine details continue with Amy’s personal touches. A variety of teas grace a side table for you to choose from during your morning meal.

Choose Your Room

Throughout the home are a variety of rooms for you to choose from for your reservation. Each one is individually tailored to a tee. The common thread that runs through each of them are the homemade cookies, glasses of refrigerated milk, a personal Keurig machine, and plush bath robes.

We stayed in the Eberlein Room, which is one of my favorites. It’s a large room, yet it feels so cozy. The garden décor, blended with period antiques, give the surroundings a peacefulness second to none.

Although the rooms are furnished with antique furniture, you will be met with luxury when you lay down for the night. Each room is outfitted with the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on.

Discover McConnelsville, Ohio

So, you’re probably wondering what to do in McConnelsville besides sit and relax in gorgeous rooms. That’s part of the beauty when staying at this Ohio Airbnb! Within 2-4 blocks of your lodging, you are able to walk to history museums, an opera house, Ohio’s oldest hardware, a coffee shop, restaurants, and a brewery.

Food and Drink Options

During our stay, we opted to go check out the brewery. Housed in an old autobody shop, the owners of Old Bridge Brewing Co have completely transformed the building to brew their personal brand of craft beer. You can see the huge tanks from the dining area. Be sure to step inside the overflow area and admire the huge table that sports a bridge for its base which replicates the bridge you see from the window.

The brewery offers a limited food menu, but you can order from any of the local restaurants. They’ll deliver your food right to your table at the brewery. Because we both love pizza, we opted for strombolis from Maxwell’s. Their food is always a treat!

Breakfast Served in Style

Unlike many Ohio Airbnbs, the Inns at 8th & Main is a full-service Bed and Breakfast. Your hosts, Amy and Dan, greet you in the morning at a predetermined time to serve you a delicious breakfast. What’s even better? Amy likes to start with dessert! When you take your first bite of the homemade yogurt, you’ll be so happy she operates like that. It’s incredibly scrumptious!

A hearty breakfast is the perfect start to the day if you plan to hike one of the many trails at the Burr Oak State Park just a short drive away. The park offers trails for all levels from short out and backs to a multi-mile journey around the perimeter of the lake.

Additional Accommodations

If you are looking for family lodging, Amy and Dan can now accommodate you as well. The Morris House, which sits next door to the Stone House, has a suite which sleeps four. As of May 1, 2022, the Second-Floor, Two-Bedroom Suite will be available.

I cannot say enough about Amy and Dan’s hospitality, accommodations, and genuine attention to details. This Ohio Airbnb provides you with a great destination for an overnight or weekend getaway. It gives you a chance to relax, unwind and reconnect.

Many passions fill my life but my family, friends and travel top the list by far. Combining them, or at least two of the three, makes it even better! I love being home and working in my garden but the urge to see and experience something new is always bubbling to the top. I love the researching part of planning a trip almost as much as the actual experience. I also like the challenge of seeing what kind of deals I can get so money is left over for even more trips!
